SMR Relay Journey

Last year I had a moment of Fear of Being Left Out. I entered into a commitment with my friend to run a 200-mile relay race which we will be running at the end of April. Yes, you read that right, a 200-mile relay race. There are 6 of six that will be running.

Since then, my friend decided that she did not want to travel to do this run. Left me hanging. Well, I too could have said No too. I understand that but if you know me, I love a challenge. Yes, the marathon was a big challenge. This one will be my ultimate test. Plus, I will be heading to North Carolina a state that I have never been to. The team will be running in the Smokey Mountains. How beautiful will this be. I cannot imagine. I have always wanted to see the Smokey Mountains. Also, I do not want any regrets of not going. I know I will be glad that I did it once it is completed. It will be fun.

However, this will be in April at the end but there is still a chance of rain while I will be running.

I do not like the idea of running in the rain. I will have to try and get out there when there is a chance of a little rain here in Texas.

After my BMW Dallas marathon, I went into a full lazy mood. The week after my crazy self-had picked up a Spin class sub job up at the college. Two days later and I can tell you that was a bad move. My left leg, remember the one that the hamstring decided it did not want to work too well towards the end of the race? Well, it was telling me that it was not ready to workout. I got through the workout but wow, my legs were toast.

Thursday spin class was not as bad.

Since, then I have run a little and actually I have done pretty well. My pace is picking up. I found that I really was holding myself back. From what, I do not know.

For this relay, I signed up for a few races leading up to it. I decided to run a little 10k in our area. It composes of some pretty good hills. The next race is in a state park which my daughter tells me that the stairs and little hills are crazy. We will do a 15k which is 9 miles. Until then I will train and run some intervals and I will have to pick up the pace.

I have been really workout hard on the weights. I have been going really hard on adding weights to the legs and they are showing much improvement.

I will keep you posted on the training and how I am doing. I have also tightened up my diet so that I can get the best performance possible. This is really kind of exciting.

Wish me luck.
