BMW Marathon Journey cont. Part3

I am about halfway through this training and shiny got a hold of me. I received an opportunity to be a part of a group for my network marketing I am a part of and in this i was able to co-write a book with many other authors.

I took time to write a chapter of a book. It was intense and I have been wanting to write a book a little about my trauma and what drives me to keep fit and healthy. A small glimpse. I had a book launch in September. I was able to celebrate a little win. Some people say it is a big Win. I am not much of celebrating wins. I chose to just do tasks check offs. Once I complete a task, then I am done and off t something else. I don’t know why I do this. I was talking with my hubby about it and realized that is exactly what I was taught. Complete the task and move on, my mom does this now or still. She is a retired schoolteacher and that is how I was taught. This is my book. It is on Amazon. Just a little plug. LOL

Ok back to my marathon training. Like I mentioned I had found my drinks and my salt tablets. Now that I have that figured out, it was really time to work on my intervals. My coach said to work on a higher heartrate than I am using for my marathon pace. Looking back, I really should have pushed myself although my intervals were geared to making sure that my heartrate was the same from the first to the last interval. Not going full out at the beginning was hard because you are fresh. At the end was hard because I was exhausted. I compared with previous ones, I was getting faster. My runs on the weekend (which was on Sunday), were going alot better, I was able to run longer very steady. Sometimes I really did not feel like running. Running is not in my top things of doing for cardio but for the marathon I had to change my mindset. Yes, speaking of which, mindset it all about making progress with running. Most of the time I would be running by myself which really is ok but it does get lonely. I found some of my greatest ideas while running. The only problem is that I cannot remember what the heck the idea was when I get back to the truck.

The weather is God awful because it is now summer which for us in Texas lasts for ever. I know I mentioned it before when I ran the Sweetwater half, it has not gotten any better.

Its September, the weather is still early morning like 5am is still 80’s and it is so hard to run and catch your breath. When the weather is cooling I feel like a nascar car, the cars tend to run better with cooler weather. I do too. I can’t wait for the weather to be cooler. I am hoping that this hot weather training will be worth it.

When I talk to my coach, we are always saying we got time, we got time. What are you talking about, its September. My race is in December. To me that is not long, I feel like I am not making any progress.

Realizing that with my training I also teach group exercise classes. I teach 3 spin classes which I love but I found that I am always in a bent over position and my back was really giving me fits.

I teach a yoga class which oh my lord, I should have been teaching more of this class. The stretch is doing me wonders especially after my Thursday early morning run.

I teach a body chisel class with dumbbells followed by an abs class which is also great for my running.

I can remember one time before this training started that I went an ran oh I don’t know like 6 miles and the next day my abs hurt so bad. So yeah, got to get the ab work in.

I finally went to my fitness coordinator and to let him know that I needed to be taken off the schedule for 2 of my spin classes because I was overtraining. What you say? How did I know? Well, when all your training starts to go backwards, and I felt so tired all the time. I was getting interrupted sleep but, on the weekends, I would take naps and truly try not to do anything at all. I had one day to rest up. That is it. Just one day. Guess what, that is not enough. Oh, did I mention I was still getting up at 4 to put in my own strength training.

My coach said that I needed to get in a 10k run as well. I found one in a town very close by because my town did not have any going on in September. I found a little race in a town called Waco, Texas. You might have heard of it from the hit tv show Fixer Upper.

This race will be told in the next blog. Stay tuned.
