BMW Dallas Full Marathon Journey cont.

Last week, I left you with I had just finished the most dreadful half marathon I ever ran in my life. Ok, it was the second half marathon I have ever ran but still does not leave a very good impression of half marathons. I had been thinking maybe I should just stick to 5ks or 10ks. Those seem more doable than the half marathons.

Here I was back to the training plan. I had to stick with it, I had to keep training. I still had 7 months left, still plenty of time to gain more knowledge about my body and what it can do and what it does not like.

Nutrition at this point was not on point but doing pretty good. After talking with a few people, I purchased a couple of things. I found the salt tablets on Amazon. Pineapple Mango was my pick.

These are so good. I realized that with all the running and lifting I was doing, I was not replenishing my salt and therefore I was cramping. How was I going to replace the salt I was sweating out. Why did I cramp so darn bad during the half marathon plus now I am training early morning in the heat. 80 degrees starting out at 5 in the morning. I need to uptake more water as well.

I also found a few great drinks to help me as well. Now, my training plan all involves turning fat in energy instead of relying on carbs so much. I went to my local vitamins plus store and found these two powder forms drinks. Oh so good. Watermelon is so good. I use this 30 minutes before I head out to run.

I also used this in my drink as well. This collagen actually helped my endurance.

Now, for my water bottle I found the partner to the BIO Burn. BIO Endure. This drink is amazing, because it consists of sodium, potassium, magnesium and it tastes so good. Oh and BCAA’s, it increases my VO2 max and cellular rehydration. Gold mine.

I was hitting the interval training on Tuesday mornings at the track. Working on my speed. I felt like I was the rabbit but in all actuality I was the tortoise.

I would compare my stats from the previous week, which sometimes is a good idea so I could tell if I have improved or if I need to get my butt in gear and be breathless. urgh! I was always mad at myself. I know I can do better because I have in the past. Screw getting older. My mind is not order, but my body is saying otherwise. I am going to prove this theory wrong. There is no way that I can still be this bloody slow.

Now, its important to note that I needed to do some self care. I needed to get adjusted by the chiropractor and I needed to get a deep tissue massage to get the kinks out.

OH M GEEE! You never really know how much pain your body is in until you go and have them work on it.

My friend, you know the one that got me into all of this, told me about a massage lady that was a running coach and a runner herself. She went to her to get some muscle and pain points worked out and to improve her performance. I decided to schedule an appointment. She had me in tears. However, my body responded good. I had to keep going back. Now, this lady is very popular and is always booked so I had a different lady so was just as painful. My hip flexors from teaching spin and running were in so much pain and tight. I alternated between 3 different ladies because each one had different techniques, they were able to use on me. WOW, just WOW. This was not a fluffy massage; this was known as a medical massage. I highly recommend this type. Every time I thought a knot was done; they would always find another knot. It was literally a workout. My body was feeling much better and performing much better as well. I only suggest this to you if you are doing any kind of strenuous exercise or even if you are not to go get one. You have to go multiple times; it is not going to get fixed all in one setting.

If you want your body to perform, you have to treat it good. You have to get adjustments and massages.

Schedule yourself one today.

I stayed with this massage 2x a month because I was seriously in pain. It was spendy but later it will payoff.

With the combination of the salt tablets, my drinks, now my adjustments and massages I was on my way to conquering this marathon.

Next week I will continue with more. I hope you enjoyed.
